Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about ordering, delivery & pickup, quality disclosures, and how buying direct through RealMeats works.
Ordering & Accounts
Do I buy from RealMeats or from the rancher?
You’re buying direct from the rancher. RealMeats is the marketplace that helps you discover producers, compare options, and checkout in one place.
Do I need an account to order?
Not always. You can often checkout as a guest, but an account helps you track orders and manage addresses more easily.
Can I place a custom order (half/quarter beef, bulk bundles, special cuts)?
Some ranchers offer bulk or custom options. If it’s available, it will be listed on their profile or product catalog. If you don’t see it, contact the rancher to ask what they can do.
Can I order from multiple ranchers at once?
Depending on how the marketplace is configured, you may be able to order from multiple ranchers—or you may need to checkout per rancher. The cart and checkout will guide you.
Products & Availability
Are products fresh or frozen?
It depends on the rancher and the product. Listings should indicate fresh/frozen where relevant, and fulfillment details will clarify how items are delivered or picked up.
What does the weight/quantity mean (per lb, per package, average weight)?
Rancher-direct products often vary slightly by cut. Listings should specify how items are priced (exact weight vs average). If it’s unclear, reach out before ordering.
Do you sell fish too?
If Fish is available in your menu, it means approved producers are listing it on the marketplace. Availability may vary by region and season.
Quality & Standards
Is everything grass-fed / pasture-raised / organic?
Not necessarily. RealMeats supports many producer approaches. What matters is clear disclosure—you’ll find the rancher’s practices listed on their profile and product pages where applicable.
How does RealMeats define “quality”?
We focus on transparency: how animals are raised, how products are processed/handled, and how fulfillment is done (delivery/pickup/shipping).

Are rancher claims verified?
Some details can be documented (processing information, inspection status, certifications). Other practices are represented through consistent disclosure and communication. If a claim is important to you and isn’t clearly stated, we recommend confirming with the rancher before ordering.
Delivery & Pickup
How do I know if a rancher delivers to me?
Each rancher profile shows their delivery radius/zones and/or pickup locations. If delivery isn’t offered to your area, you may still be able to choose pickup.
Where do I pick up my order?
Pickup location(s), timing windows, and instructions are provided on the rancher’s profile and in your order confirmation.
Do you ship?
Some ranchers offer shipping, others focus on local delivery/pickup. Shipping availability and regions (where offered) are listed on the rancher’s profile.
What if I miss my delivery or pickup window?
Policies vary by rancher. Check the rancher’s Delivery & Pickup details and your order confirmation. Because meat is perishable, timing matters.
Payments & Pricing
What payment methods do you accept?
Major credit/debit cards (and other methods if enabled at checkout).
When am I charged?
Most orders are charged at checkout unless a rancher uses a different arrangement, which should be clearly stated.
Why do prices vary between ranchers?
Producers have different breeds, feed programs, processing costs, and fulfillment models. RealMeats is designed so you can compare options and choose what fits your priorities.
Changes, Cancellations, Refunds
Can I cancel or change an order after placing it?
Because fulfillment is managed by each rancher, policies can vary. If you need a change, contact the rancher as soon as possible using the info in your confirmation.
Do you accept returns?
Meat is perishable, so returns are typically not accepted. Issues are usually resolved with refunds or credits when warranted, depending on the situation and the rancher’s policy.
What if my order arrives damaged or missing items?
Take photos right away and contact the rancher. If you need help escalating, RealMeats support can assist.
